1st Annual Dads Matter Too Conference
Dear Dads,
You are our protector, provider, and teacher. As a parent you are always learning, never afraid to make a mistake. Although you are not perfect, we depend on you and need you to guide us.
You are my past. I am your legacy. You have taught me the value of loyalty, provided morals and taught me how to forgive. Throughout childhood and later into adulthood, you have made me who I am today.
You matter to me because you taught me how to treat people and navigate relationships.
You need to know that I love you and always will. It is through you that I learned how to be accountable for my actions. I have learned to be a good listener. You have made me feel safe and empowered to be the person I can be. Even when you are not around, the lessons you taught me have continued to shape me.
Thank you for being my dad.
This letter was composed by the participants of a breakout session at the 2015 Dad’s Matter Too Conference. The session was facilitated by the HEALTHYfellows / Man Enough Support Initiative.
