HEALTHYfellows Hosts #TEDxCCSU Salon.
The gentlemen of HEALTHYfellows/Man Enough Support Initiative had the distinct pleasure of hosting Central Connecticut State University's first TED Talks Salon on Monday March 30th in the Connecticut Room in Memorial Hall. It was one of the University's many events in their #StandUPccsu bystander prevention program. HEALTHYfellows facilitator and Salon Speaker, William Fothergill, (MA. MSW, CPC, LPC) shared a presentation "Discussing Gender, Masculinity & Male Privilege." The Salon was constructed around Tony Porter's "A Call To Men" TED video.
The turn out was incredible and the presentation, TED video and subsequent break out sessions led us to great conversations on; gender relations, the culture of manhood, The Man Box. It proved to be a great addition to the work we've been consistently been doing for the last eight years.
We applaud all involved, especially the students that had the courage to join and share their stories, concerns and helped us work on ways to help us to carry the #StandUPccsu mission further. It is up to us all to create a better, more understanding and safer campus.
